Jennifer Roland
As a professional step dancer and fiddler, Jennifer appreciates everyday that she can hear music and conversations much more clearly than she used to.
The youngest of ten children, Jennifer was born in the tiny fishing community of Alder Point, Cape Breton where music surrounded her from the moment she was born. By the time she was six, she was taking step dancing lessons and by age nine she was studying fiddle with Kyle MacNeil of the world renowned Barra MacNeils. |

However, for as long as she can remember, Jennifer had difficulty hearing. When she began fiddling at age nine, she was fitted with her first hearing aids and immediately noticed a difference in her ability to hear and feel the rhythm of the music.
"My timing definitely improved," she said.
In the summer of 2003, Jennifer began wearing Conversa™ with ClearCall. She enjoys Conversa, which is programmed for her particular hearing loss. She even has a program for "performing" enabling her to hear the tones and pitches of her fiddle more accurately. |

"They work so well for me and believe me, I've put them to the test," Jennifer explains.
She certainly has! Jennifer's performances are so energetic that crowds pound their feet with excitement while she performs jigs and reels on the fiddle combined with her dynamic stepdancing.
Apart from performing, Jennifer notices she can hear conversations clearly and even sounds from a distance. For instance, she now hears when a car drives in her driveway and when the phone rings in another room -- sounds she regularly used to miss. In addition, she enjoys one-on-one conversations in a noisy restaurant since Conversa reduces annoying background noise when needed.
Most of all, Jennifer is thankful that Conversa helps her to be the best musician she can be. |
